movie meme - because [livejournal.com profile] gaeln tagged me . . .

Rules: In a text post, list ten movies that have stayed with you - ten movies you've watched more than once or pushed your friends into watching or can't get out of your mind. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — and, yes, limit it to ten.

1) The Unseen - with Gale Harold, Steve Harris

Philadelphia was a good movie :)

I've been wanting to see The Unseen for a while now,but I can't find it online anywhere and since my disk drive on my lappie is stuck on region 2 for movies...online is my only option.

[identity profile] later2nite.livejournal.com 2014-10-11 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen it anywhere online, either, but I really hope you can get a hold of it and watch it. Out of all the movies Gale's made, I like this one best. The plot is engrossing, and Gale has done some of his best work in this film.

[identity profile] mrs-koki.livejournal.com 2014-10-12 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh ok,thanks. I really hope I can too...I really want to see him at his best. XD (not that he wasn't doing that in his other works and QAF,but still...) So what is it about anyway? :)

[identity profile] later2nite.livejournal.com 2014-10-16 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, Gale is always at his best (especially in QAF). I just meant the role he plays in The Unseen is very intense and emotional - he's absolutely perfect for it. No other actor does brooding better than Gale Harold.

It's hard for me to describe without spoiling it for you, but the main gist revolves around his relationship with a childhood friend, who is African American. It takes place in the deep south, a region of the U.S. where race relations is a complicated, sensitive issue.

On a fun, upbeat note, the movie was filmed back when Gale was still working on QAF, and Michelle Clunie is his girlfriend in it. It was so cool to see "Brian" and "Melanie" liking each other. LOL

[identity profile] mrs-koki.livejournal.com 2014-10-16 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well if Gale perfected brooding anywhere it was QAF lol! :)

Thanks. Now I REALLY WANT to see the movie :(

Yeah, that would be refreshing lol. Tho,to be honest...Brian and Mel had a personality conflict. But she did help Brian when he needed, like with Kip and getting the community to donate money to Brian's fake political group when he went into debt to bring down Stockwell.

Great list my dear Linda.
I'm with you on Philadelphia. I LOVED Forrest Gump as well. Plus it was such an innovative movie at the time with Tom Hanks 'popping up' there in old news clips shaking hands with JFK and so on. And well... who can resist "Life is like a box of chocolate', right? *sigh*
OMG I totally love the movie Peggy Sue *happy sigh* I might just try to rewatch it.
To Sir with Love IS one of the greatest 'teacher' movies which definitely inspired me.
And ITA with you on The Unseen. It's my fav Gale movie. I wish we saw more from him on screen.
Thank you so much for sharing my dear but... wait, NO TP? ;)
*hugs*
V.

It was tough to limit this list to only 10 movies. I do love The Turning Point, but since you listed it, I went with a few different ones. ♥

[identity profile] kachelofen.livejournal.com 2014-10-10 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Woohoo. This must be the first time I've seen Fried Green Tomatoes on a list. It's one of my favourites. :-)

[identity profile] later2nite.livejournal.com 2014-10-11 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, Fried Green Tomatoes is a terrific movie. I haven't seen it on anyone else's list, either. Definitely a favorite of mine. ♥

[identity profile] thespian15.livejournal.com 2014-10-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I think I know most of them, but I have only seen two of them, Milk and To Sir With Love. :o
Hugs, Jon

Both of those movies are fantastic. It was tough to limit this list to 10! LOL

Hugs back

I have been trying to make a list of 10 movies that I watch again and again. :p

[identity profile] techgirl-on-ij.livejournal.com 2014-10-11 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Milk is such a great movie! I totally forgot about it when making my list.

I've put a couple of yours on my "movies to watch" list :)

[identity profile] later2nite.livejournal.com 2014-10-11 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Milk is such a great movie. I had a hard time only listing 10. LOL

[identity profile] spike7451.livejournal.com 2014-10-11 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
How could I forget to put #'s 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 on my list, I adore all of them!!

Great list!!

[identity profile] later2nite.livejournal.com 2014-10-11 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! It was so hard to limit this list to 10! LOL

What a wonderful group of films, that I've seen seven of your ten is very cool. After I've watched Mr. Holland's Opus, which I've added to Netzflix, it will be eight!! Thanks for doing this :)

[identity profile] later2nite.livejournal.com 2014-10-16 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for tagging me! These are all movies that have stayed with me over the years and have spoken to me personally in some way. So cool that you've seen 7 of them.

I think you'll really enjoy Mr. Holland's Opus. It didn't get much hype or recognition when it came out, but it's truly a gem of a movie. I really identified with the wife and mother of his son in it, but I don't want to give anything away, so after you've seen it let's talk about it. ♥

[identity profile] gaeln.livejournal.com 2014-10-18 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
'...so after you've seen it let's talk about it."

It's on "long Wait' status at Netflix, but once I have seen it, I'll let you know :)
